Our Problematic Substance Use A Guide for Managers Online Education is designed to help you better understand our Problematic Substance Use – A Guide for Managers. Problematic substance use (PSU) are situations in which the use of a substance negatively impacts the ability of a nurse to practice in a safe, competent, ethical and compassionate manner. It is estimated that 8%-20% of nurses are affected by PSU.
This module is a resource for managers in all practice settings to help them understand what PSU is, how to identify it, steps to take when you suspect PSU or it has been reported to you and how to plan for when a nurse is returning to practice.
